The solicitor has run to say the money is through so the house sale has gone through. We have given notice to quit here so we have a fortnight to find a new gaff. Having reviewed the train timetables we’re off to Haywards Heath as a compromise between the coast and the smoke.

The recruitment chappie rang this morning to say I have a new job. Should start in April all being well, based in Farringdon. Having decided to live near the sea and some decent mountainbiking on the South Downs it looks as if we will have to move back to the smoke. I’m really happy about the job and a part of me misses London (well the nice things about the capital anyway) At the same time its a bummer that having got what I thought I wanted geographically I’m giving it up for work. Fact is I don’t really like it here so its not a hardship to be totally honest. I’ve been out the UK too long and coming back has reminded me why I left.
The diving will suffer and take a back seat. Right now, looking at the brown goo that is the Channel, I don’t really care about that either. Life is very strange at times.

Easter vis March 14, 2008

Looks like a lot of people are holding back on making their Easter dive bookings. The vis here is still grim, but we intend to dive with the club over the weekend. I can’t believe its March and the kit is still dry.

Spring is coming……. February 18, 2008

Well the weather is improving even if the vis is not.  Hopefully we should get out in about 3 or 4 weeks time.  Maybe they will have cleared all the wood off the beach by then.  The huge dumper trucks were still out there on Sunday.  Someone, somewhere, has made some serious money out of this wrecking.

Its grim (so they say) up north.  Its grim down here too if you ask me.  Yesterday the rain flooded the storm drains and all the old people had to drive even slower.  The coppers are still patrolling the beaches in case anyone pinches 50p’s worth of salt laden timber (they have had a helicopter out there for four days solid - environmental concerns are not really their thing obviously).  The vis is shot to hell and we decided not to bother with the Weymouth trip.

I suppose its par for the course in winter.  You can see why people go to Stoney (although not why you would queue up from 6am).  Clearly the answer is to put aside all thoughts of diving until the spring.  June maybe.  Or go somewhere warm, like the Red Sea, or the Canaries, or just put the kit on ebay and call it a day.  No, I’m convinced we will make a good dive in 2008.  Just not here.  Mind you it looks like I have to go back to London for work so we will not be “here” for much longer anyway I don’t think.  Haven’t been this fed up in years.

Moving December 12, 2007

Well the decision is made and unless the house sale falls through or the rental we are moving on Jan 4th. We’re off to Brighton and looking forward to some diving again.

Plymouth November 20, 2007

Well we had a nice day out with Aquanauts diving the Scylla and JEL.  This seems to be the “default” dive for Plymouth now.  Surely there are some more sites out there?  It was great to be back there and despite poor vis it was a nice day out.  It was also Brian (of Aquanauts) birthday so he joined the boat for a celebratory dive.  We went out for a cracking Japanese meal afterwards with Paul (Turbanator) and Kirstie.  Excellent.

Since then we have debated the idea of moving down to Plymouth for the diving.  Kelly has not got on well in the new London job and has quit.  The house sale is nearly complete and we have nowhere to move to and no jobs.  All the pundits are predicting house price falls in the new year - a dumb time to buy our new place, especially in Plymouth where there are no jobs….

I now deeply regret coming back to the UK.  What a stupid mistake.  I think we will go to France for xmas so I’ll try to drop in the Ressel on the way back and try out the new camera.  At last some diving on this site.  Hoorahhhhhh…

Well we have an offer on the Peterborough house and so we will soon be back in London.  I’m busy packing everything we own into boxes and wondering what the hell to do with it when we move.  The dive kit alone would fill a Transit.  At the moment we are looking to buy a house in the Epsom area as a compromise between commuting and London house prices.  Its also not too far for Brighton, Newhaven and Eastbourne dive boats.  So, weather permitting see you there!!
